I Smite Thee!

I think I may be being smited (smote? what is the past tense of smite, anyway?) by the knitting gods. I still have no baby and I think its because of this sweater. I ordered the yarn and started it back in February for Yarn Harlot's Olympics. I didn't officially join since I didn't think I would actually get it done in the alotted time (I'm not exactly a monogomous knitter...16 days of working on a single project seemed a little too daunting).

Anyway, I finished almost all the knitting months and months ago and then realized what lay ahead. If I finished the knitting, I would actually really have to cut the sweater up. With scissors and everything. So, I did the only rational thing a knitter could do, right? I put it in its bag and hung it on a doorknob and never spoke of it again. I didn't even count it in the current list of projects.

But now, its back. I have realized the baby is not going to come until this sweater is done. I have been to the hospital twice and each time, I've been sent home. Its like when we lost power for four days in subzero temperatures. It wasn't until day four that I realized I had a pair of Thrummed Socks about 85% done. As soon as I finished kitchenering the toe together on the second sock, the power (and more importantly, heat) came back on. I knew knitting mojo was strong but even I was surprised.

So, it can only be that I must finish this darn sweater before I can have Miss S. I finished the last two inches of the last sleeve this morning and now, I'm ready to steek and finish.

I cannot believe I'm actually going to cut this sweater right up the middle. I hope you're watching this, Miss S.

Did she kick you as you were cutting? Did your water break with the last stitch? That would be truly impressive mojo...
