Stalled
Monogamy may be getting me lots of things done but, man, when I hit a rut, I am completely gobsmacked as to what to do with myself.
I'm down to just three things on the needles: Munch's Log Cabin Blankie, Mr Fruitychick's Sweater and my Pi Shawl. (I finished Munch's Sheep Yoke Sweater over the weekend as well)
I've found a new love for working on the blankie though I stalled out when I realized my variety of purples just wasn't wide enough. Some of the purples I have are so similar they look like I'm using the same yarn over and over where as the pink portion of the blanket looks like it has much more variety. So, thats on hold for the moment until I can make it over to the Woolie Ewe for some more cascade.
Mr. Fruitychick's sweater...well...its not an especially fun knit. I just cannot seem to memorize the pattern so I have to constantly refer to the instructions which means it isn't a very practical tv/every day knitting kind of project.
The Pi shawl, while I love it, is starting to get to that tedious stage. I feel like I'm not making any progress at all and, honestly, zillions of knit stitches around and around are getting a tad boring. It wouldn't be so bad if it was something I could do by touch but the yarn is so thin my fingers can't distinguish individual stitches.
sigh. I ended up casting on for something new yesterday to fill the football hours:
Specs:
Pattern: Baby Bog Jacket from EZ's Knitting Around DVD (hilarious, by the way)
Yarn: Patons Classic Merino in Gray and Knit Picks Merino Style in Dusk
Needles: size 7 for the body, size 8 DPN's for the I-cord.
Mods: Cast on 15% more for the bottom edge, decreased all in the back just before beginning the arm section (for fullness over diaper--but not too much! I didn't want it to look like a peplum)
Verdict: Its cute and it sure was a quick knit (a few football games with the I-cord edging done this morning). Next time, I'll make the neck opening a little bigger. I did 15% of the stitches but for a big baby noggin I think I need more.
Unfortunately, its already done, so I'm back to the middle of my dilemma.
I'm dreaming of cables and heavy fall sweaters but I am hesitant to knit anything for myself given my ever-changing size. Any suggestions? Maybe a middle size project? Something more than a sitting but not something that will sit in my knitting bag for weeks?
