Socks--Old and New
I'm getting all nostalgic about socks now--what with the Rockin Sock club gearing up and my new membership in Socktopia. I thought I'd take a look and see how my very first socks are doing. I dont wear them that often since they are ill-fitting and slouchy but I do love them.
I knit these with Cherry Tree Hill supersock--my first real sock yarn, wound into a ball by hand over the course of what seemed like hours. If I remember correctly, I knit these on whopping size 4's. Needless to say, they have not stood the test of time very well. The kitchenering is awful and the toe doesn't quite line up with the top/bottom of the foot. I still remember trying to turn the heel; I thought that every time I turned the work, I should add another needle to the works and just could not figure it out. I finally did though and even though these socks are functionally crap, I love them just as much today as I did when I finished them.
I've come along way, baby.
I finished the RPM socks yesterday. Second sock done in 5 hours.

Sorry for the awful photo on the RPM Sock--it is raining cats and dogs out and there isn't any good light to be had:
